What Indian Families Face

The 4 biggest hurdles — and how we solve them

Curriculum shock

German schools differ radically from CBSE, ICSE, or state boards. We bridge the gap so your child isn't lost from day one.

Language barrier

Academic German is not conversational German. We teach the exact language skills needed to pass tests and talk to teachers.

Parent helplessness

School reports, parent-teacher meetings, Gymnasium recommendations — we guide you through every step in English.

Gymnasium track

Indian families prioritise the best academic path. We prepare children specifically to qualify for and thrive in Gymnasium.

The AYKEN Path

From arrival to Gymnasium — step by step

1
Week 1–2

Assessment

We assess your child's current German level and identify exact curriculum gaps vs the German school expectation.

2
Week 3–8

Foundation

Focused sessions on academic reading, writing and key subject vocabulary. Parent briefings every 2 weeks.

3
Month 3–6

Acceleration

Grade-level content in Sachkunde, Mathematik and Deutsch. Mock assignments matching school format.

4
Month 6+

Independence

Child can navigate school independently. We continue as a backup for exams and track transitions.

Local Expertise Across Germany

We know every region's rules — so you don't have to.

Germany's school system is not one system — it's 16. Each state sets its own rules, exams, and school tracks. Indian families predominantly settle in Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Düsseldorf — and we have deep expertise in all of them.

Bavaria

Munich · Nuremberg · Augsburg

Germany's strictest and most competitive school system

1
Grade 4 Transition is critical
Bavaria's Grundschule only goes to Grade 4. The Übertrittszeugnis (transition certificate) in Grade 4 determines Gymnasium — pressure starts earlier than anywhere else.
2
Gymnasium requires 1.5–2.33 average
Only the top performers get a Gymnasium recommendation. The bar is the highest in Germany — Indian families relocating to Munich often face this shock first.
3
No Gesamtschule option
Unlike Berlin or NRW, Bavaria does not have integrated comprehensive schools. The three-track system (Hauptschule, Realschule, Gymnasium) is strictly enforced.
4
Lehrplan Plus curriculum
Bavaria uses its own curriculum 'LehrplanPLUS', which differs significantly from CBSE. Specific subject vocabulary must be learned from scratch.
